Create a Volusion API user

Follow these steps to create an API user whose password will not expire.

Never login to this account once you have created it, otherwise the password will start to expire.

  • Login to your Volusion store's dashboard as a super admin
  • Select "Customers" and then "Accounts" from the menu
  • Click the "Add" button, which will bring up the Basic Customer Info form
  • Set the Access Key to "Administrator"
  • Set the Email Address to anything you want (it does not have to be a valid email address)
  • Set the Password
  • Optionally set First Name and/or Last Name
  • Click Save

 

How to generate a Volusion Import URL

  • If you have not already done so, create Volusion API User by following the steps listed above
  • Login to your Volusion store's dashboard as a super admin
  • Select "Inventory" and then "Import/Export" from the menu
  • Click the "Volusion API" button
  • Click the "Get Help" button (top right corner)
  • Click "Get help with this page"
  • Scroll to the bottom of the popup window and click "Volusion API Integration Help"
  • Select Instructions for "Import"
  • Select the API User you created above in the second box
  • Scroll to the bottom of the gray "URL with Query String and General Information for Importing and Exporting" pane
  • Copy the URL after "QueryString:". It should look similar to "http://mystore.com/net/WebService.aspx?Login=neverlogin@ever.com&EncryptedPassword=3C43E013&Import=Insert"
  • You can now paste that URL into your Volusion Import URL on your SyncMonkey settings page

 

My Volusion API is broken, how can I fix it?

It is sometimes necessary to reset the Volusion export API. To do so, manually export customers from your Volusion store admin area:

  • Login to your Volusion store as an administrator
  • From your Volusion store admin area, go to Inventory > Import / Export.
  • Click on the Volusion API tab.
  • Click Run next to Generic\Customers
